  • Blessed at Camp Promise Barrie

It has been a while since the last blog. I can tell you a lot of things happened at Camp Promise. Let's try to catch up. I'm Flori, one of the four interns who came from Germany to pour into the kids at Camp. It's our heart to be a blessing and to share our love and hope with them. Looking back to the last couple months I can see God's miraculous work. Our camp is growing incredibly. Who can believe that the new shy kid is now running around having fun? Or that another family is often bringing other siblings or friends? It is such a blessing that God uses our ministry to give people a safe space to have fun, build relationships and grow personally. All your support makes a significant difference in the lives of our camp families. Just before Christmas was our annual Christmas dinner with all our camp families. We were preparing this fantastic event weeks and even months ahead. During our after school program we practiced skits and songs with the kids. I was so proud to see them perform on the stage. They were spreading joy and happiness- this warmed my heart. So good to know that Jesus is the light of the world. We added back another day of camp in the new year. We are able to do our afterschool program Wednesdays as well as Thursdays. We continue with PA-Days and Saturday trips. Another great news is the start of our Jumpstart collaboration. Working together with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Grant, we will focus on specific sports to discover for the kids. We practiced handball in a child-adapted version, gymnastics and now ball hockey. This January we were having a great time at the ice rink. The kids got the chance to learn ice skating or develop their skills. What a beautiful way to connect even deeper with the kids. At the end of January, we had another highlight: a fantastic PA-Day on the theme of Snowman and Frozen. The kids had fun building snowmen, designing fortresses and much more. We were amazed at the uniqueness of snowflakes, which are masterpieces just like all of us. Thankful for the great start of the year and praying for more blessings, we look forward to an amazing year at Camp Promise Barrie. -Flori (Rose)
