WHAT AGES ARE YOU INVOLVED WITH?

Camp Promise is excited about spending time and building healthy relationships with those aged 5-14 years.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION?

Our vision is to raise a generation of leaders who Love Jesus and Serve their community, with a clear identity of who they are and what their purpose is!

WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?

  • Our purposed mission is to reach children, youth and their families, in the older east end of Barrie, with the love of Jesus, in a practical and relational way.  We desire to be "the village" that helps raise children into confident leaders who serve and help restore their community.

  • Young leaders are a key part of the mission of Camp Promise, where we believe in allowing teens and young adults, the opportunity to serve and lead with their gifts and talents; to be mentored and coached while actively serving, to live fully as God designed them.  We desire to see ALL ages of volunteers be involved in areas of Camp Promise as they feel led to.  Deepening the connection to the churches of Barrie through relationship building adds another whole dimension of opportunity for spiritual growth for whole families.

  • Volunteers of ALL ages are needed to allow for this to happen! There is no retirement plan for followers of Jesus Christ in the life long call to live missionally!

WHAT ARE YOUR CORE BELIEFS?

  • Children and youth are leaders of the next generation and both deserve and require training up in the way they should go. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he(she) should go, and when they are old he(she) will not depart from it."

  • The old African proverb: "It takes a village to raise a child" is at the heart of Camp Promise.  We desire to be a strong support to families in the raising up of children and youth so they can be given the opportunity to be all that they can be.

  • Jesus Christ is the one who fits perfectly in the God-sized hole within each of us. We believe what Jesus himself said in  John 14:6 "Jesus answered: 'I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man comes to the Father except through me.'"

  • The "church" is made up of all who whole-heartedly embrace and live out their conviction to be followers of Jesus Christ: where true freedom, redemption, fellowship and community can be made available to all, as each is trained to reach out with love, mercy and grace, tell their God story and use their gifts and talents to serve others.

  • Teens and Young Adults both need and deserve to have the opportunity to be mentored and coached through active service, where they discover and develop both identity and purpose.

WHAT DO YOU PROVIDE FOR THE CHILDREN?

  • A healthy snack

  • The opportunity to work with assistance on homework, and practice reading skills one on one, in small groups or on their own

  • Participation in games, sports, arts and crafts, music and special events and experiences

  • Learning together from the Bible through interactive formats designed for their age and stage of understanding

  • Lots of fun and wonderful opportunities to develop friendships with peers and healthy relationships with trusted leaders
